Flying Geese This morning, as I was watering my garden, two Canadian Geese flew overhead calling out as they flew by. The sky was clear and empty. Just two streamlined birds flashing above me in the early morning light. I couldn't see exactly where they landed. I know a pair has nested in my neighbor's Ponderosa Pine tree in summers past. Perhaps they landed there. For a moment time stood still. The geese remained focused on their mission and I was simply part of the landscape they flew over this morning. They, however, were a special moment for me. I stopped, and stood still in wonder.

and so.... we begin In the middle of a sleepless night I decided to begin a writing practice. I wanted something to look forward to each day that had no relationship to accomplishing anything. Nor any expectation around anything else that I might want or need "to-do" that day. Just some time to myself to reflect on the world around me, and the rhythms of life that I hope to find myself increasingly in deeper rapport with. In recent years I have loved writing reflections from time to time. So I wondered... "what if I tried doing that every day?" and so.... we begin with the first reflection... It's summer and, gratefully, so far the temperatures are tolerable and the sky free of smoke. That can all change in an instant of course, but for the moment, I try to remind myself to savor these lovely days.
